IR(Infrared) Knee Joint Dataset

The acquisition of Knee thermogram dataset has been conducted in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) Department, Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) of Govind Ballav Pant (GBP) Hospital, Agartala, Tripura (W), under the supervision of Dr. Satyabrata Nath, Assistant Professor, PMR Department, Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC), Govind Ballav Pant (GBP) Hospital, Govt. of Tripura. The Knee thermogram dataset contains total 1200 thermograms of 200 subjects. Six different view of knee regions are captured from each subject. Those six different views are anterior view, posterior view, exterior side of right knee, exterior side of left knee, the interior side of right knee, the interior side of left knee. The anterior view of contains maximum inflammatory information and can be accessible with permission by following the given link below. Among those 200, 105 subjects are belongs to arthritis affected patient group and rest 95 subjects are under the group of healthy volunteers without any health abnormality. Three types of arthritis oriented data are captured under arthritis affected thermogram and those types are Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), Osteoarthritis (OA), and Reactive arthritis (RE).

Importance/Utilities of the Dataset: The key features of the designed dataset are as follows:

i. The dataset contains newly created standardized knee thermograms focusing on arthritis disease diagnosis. Such dataset is presently not available for research purpose. Creation of such a dataset will expand the the area of research in thermogram base inflammatory knee disease diagnosis.

ii. The dataset contains inflamed region oriented ground truth marked knee thermograms. The ground truth marking is performed under the supervision of medical expert.

iii. The normal and arthritis affected knee thermograms are present in the dataset.

iv. The dataset contains Inter-arthritis marked labelled thermograms where three types of arthritis oriented thermograms are present.

v. Each thermogram of the dataset is labelled by consulting with medical expert in this domain.
